After a long time away from this I thought I'd post a recent battle report from our British vs Soviet Team Yankee game!
Last night saw Aarons British take on...well...Aarons Russians (played by me!). Mission was dust-up. table quarter deployment with meeting engagement and delayed reseves.
The Russians were attaking and in turn 1 the BMPs pushed out on the right and the left, while the infantry occupied the buildings in the middle, in front of the Wariors and AA. Unfortunately they did little damage- the BMPs lost 2 vehicles each and the infantry lost 2 bases in return. The british rockets laid down almost 8000 munitions in under a minute and managed to kill a BMP in the open
Turn 2 saw the hinds arrive along with the frogfoots (frogfeet?). They concentrated ineffectual fire on the British AA, which responded by failing to down a single aircraft. The infantry in the buildings bailed 3 warriors. On the left a BMP bailed a chieftain and on the right a BMP missile destroyed a rocket launcher in the woods while the tunguskas used their cannons to destroy the 2 scorpions. In the British turn the dug in infantry destroyed the last BMP. On the left the chieftains pushed up as the Harriers arrived. A mixture of cluster bombs (nasty) and fire destroyed the BMPs while rocket fire destroyed another BMP transport. Soviet AA fire did nothing to the Harriers
In Russian Turn 3 the frogfoots showed up again (hitting nothing) and a unit of T-64s came on from reserve. They pushed up across the right hand side of the table and were half way to the British back objective. AA fire was again ineffectual. RPG fire from the infantry and fire from the Hinds destroyed the 3 Chieftains and bailed all the warriors again. In the British turn a unit of chieftains came on the left, destroying the HQ t-64 in the woods, while the harriers arrived on the right but failed to range in on the t-64s. a milan team did manage to blow one up though, but this was claimed by the RAF on their return to base. The British infantry left their foxholes, advancing on the russians in the buildings. As the last minute they noticed the hinds over their shoulders and called off their assault (Aaron suddenly realised the hinds would have gotten defensive fire)
In the Russian turn 4 no more reserves arrived, but the frogfoots arrived again. This time the British AA downed both before they could fire. The centre infantry pushed up and fire RPGs into the rear of the newly arrived Chieftains, missing, but the 4 Hinds had a lucky set of rolls (about the only one of the game!) and blew up all 3 tanks. On the right 2 T-64s got bogged down in the woods, but the final one dashed to within 4" of the right hand objective, remaining hidden in the woods. The BMP transports managed to blow up the remaining rocket artillery with missiles
The British turn 4 saw another Chieftain unit arrive on the left and the helicopters, while the infantry advanced to target the tunguskas (but missed). However all eyes were on the right. The warrior tried to get back to the right hand objective, but couldnt tactical move within 4". The Harriers arrived to save the day but as they only ranged in on their 3rd attempt they didnt manage to blow up the T-64 on the objective. This meant the game was effectively over as the Soviets now couldnt be stopped from capturing an objective in Turn 5, as there was nothing on that side of the table left to shoot at them. The remaining 2 T-64s were also in striking range of the 2nd objective, held only by 1 milan team. A reserve roll (just to see) also saw the remaining t-64 unit arriving on the right. Win for Aaron's Soviets vs Aaron's British!
